Fifth Grade Students Learn Key Life Skills at BizTown

Fifth Grade Students Learn Key Life Skills at BizTown
Alpine Union School District takes their students on educational field trip.

The Alpine Union School District gives all of their 5th graders the wonderful opportunity to visit Junior Achievement’s Biztown each school year!

Junior Achievement’s BizTown is a popular program which “allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks and vote for mayor!

The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.”

This program is created specifically for students in fourth to sixth grade. Biztown helps students in their community “connect the dots between what they learn in school and the “business of life” — work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.”

In preparation for this exciting learning opportunity, our students spend four weeks learning how an economy works, how to be a citizen, how to apply for a job and how to run a successful business. Then, their learning is put to the test on the day they visit Biztown and work in their chosen career.

This unique experience allows our students to practice the skills necessary for their professional and financial futures.

Our fifth graders and Biztown are just a small example of how the Alpine Union School District strives for our mission of Inspiring Creativity, Innovation and Excellence!
