Facebook, a top Social Networking website, supports and invests in Liquid Technologies, leading African Digital Solutions Provider, for optic fiber internet network establishment in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Liquid Technologies and Facebook have partnered up to install fiber optic infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Africa. Installation of this network will facilitate over 30 million individuals across central Congo to the eastern border with Rwanda. This plan will drastically improve internet connectivity and help meet the growing demand for regional connectivity, says Congolese Environmental Tech activist Michee Kamba Lotemo.

The new optic fiber network is a part of a digital corridor that Liquid Technologies has been working on for over two years. This corridor will connect Congo to neighboring countries, including

Angola, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Upon completion, Liquid Technologies will provide wholesale carrier services for internet service providers and mobile network operators. Facebook will support Liquid Technologies with support network planning and provide funding for this venture.

African society is heavily dependent on the internet and mobile services for Business execution and crypto trading. There are approximately 469 million registered mobile money accounts in Sub-Saharan African, with around 81% & 34% mobile and internet penetration. Currently, the continent is connected to the internet via undersea cables and satellites. The economic impact of the internet and mobile services is significant, and network outages cause mayhem for governments and businesses alike. Thus this solution introduction of fiber cables will provide high connectivity speeds and reliability.

Ibrahim Ba, Director of Network Investments, Emerging Markets at Facebook, shared, “We know that deploying fiber in this region is not easy, but it is a crucial part of extending broadband access to under-connected areas. We look forward to seeing how our fiber build will help increase the availability and improve the affordability of high-quality internet in DRC.”

“Liquid Technologies and Facebook have a common mission to provide affordable infrastructure to bridge connectivity gaps, and we believe our work together will have a tremendous impact on internet accessibility across the region.” Nic Rudnick, Group CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies.

Michee Kamba Lotemo, Technology Environmental Tech Activist, shares, “I am 100% sure that this step that Liquid Technologies and Facebook have planned will be a Game changer for Congo and the surrounding region. Our economy has a big need for this change in the digital landscape to serve our businesses better”.
