John Hayes of BALYO Sees Autonomous Reach Fork Trucks as Solution to Driver Shortage

John Hayes, Director of Sales for BALYO, a leader in innovative robotic solutions for material handling, recently discussed the scarcity of reach fork truck operators making self-driving reach fork trucks the answer. Read the recent article in Forbes here.

According to Hayes, a reach truck is designed to load, move, and unload heavy materials in warehouses, distribution centers or very large retail stores. These vehicles are more compact than forklifts to navigate moving items and maneuvering around narrow warehouse aisle configurations. When warehouses become cramped, going up makes sense, however it can make navigation and material handling quite difficult. Reach fork trucks can be assets to any warehouse fleet – allowing operators to easily navigate in and out of narrow aisles and reach significant heights.

Hayes shared, “The new autonomous reach trucks embed unique infrastructure-free navigation technology. The current generation of autonomous reach trucks can interface with machines, conveyors, warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP (enterprise resource planning) software for a full integration within existing operations. These robots drive quality improvements, and they independently perform pick & drop from conveyors, gravity racks, and elevated mezzanines and mobile racks.”

Hayes is a proud member of the Forbes Business Development Council, an invitation-only organization for senior-level sales and business development executives. Members are respected leaders and executives who are selected for the council based on the depth and diversity of experience in the business development space.
