Onsaemiro Co., Ltd., located in Korea, exported $500,000 worth of cosmetics made from rice germs and eye creams made from Fucoidan to the United States and Canada last year.
Onsaemiro Co., Ltd. is a cosmetics company that has been in business for two generations after CEO Jung and Daim took over the cosmetics company from her father, who was a teacher in the past.
We focus on cosmetics made of rice germs, Aronia, blueberries, and Fucoidan which revitalize skin cells and currently have a total of 30 product lines under the brand name Soroci. Soroci means “whole” in the local dialect.
CEO Daim Jung said that the reason for using rice germs as a cosmetic material is that Koreans have washed their faces with rice water for skin care since ancient times.
In the early days of the business, the company began exporting soaps mainly to Japan which earned its reputation and won an award in the “2nd Gyeongnam E-Shop” category in Korea for Internet shopping mall sales.
The company began introducing its products to overseas markets in earnest through the 2016 overseas expo. With this as a starting point, the company received orders from countries such as Canada and the United States. Starting with the export of $20,000 in the first year of launch, the export scale began to grow gradually, reaching the current export scale.
Regarding the fact that the company was able to achieve this achievement despite the pandemic situation of COVID-19 over the past two years, CEO Daim Jung said, “It has been a time for us to take a leap forward and an opportunity to become more confident.”
On future goals, CEO Daim Jung said, “90% of sales are currently coming from overseas. Until now, we had mainly sold to overseas buyers, so we did not market for the Korean market. Based on this, our goal is to make a bigger leap forward by starting full-scale online marketing in Korea.”
