MINDIE is Miami’s newest independent “Indie” film festival, now in its second year, celebrating Independent Films from around the world. It’s a fun, exciting and affordable weekend for you, your friends and family to spend in South Beach, enjoying the best Indie Films made this year.

All screenings will be during the afternoons and evenings on all the 3 days of the Mindie 2017 Film Festival.

ABOUT MINDIE:
Founded in 2015, Mindie – Miami Independent Film Festival is an ongoing film festival that works on two different levels: monthly competition and annual event. The monthly edition give continuity to the selection process and a steady feedback to the filmmakers. Instead of waiting for months before getting an answer from the festival, filmmakers are immediately contacted if selected. Their work is privately screened and evaluated by a jury of industry professionals.
Every month, the jury selects winners from each category. The monthly winners will then compete to be screened at our annual event. The event aims to create a strong relationship between filmmakers, producers and distributors from all over the world.
WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR:
This year we received 1,061 films from 64 countries. All 1,061 films were evaluated on their overall quality, production value, development of the story and cinematography.
We then selected 92 Monthly Winners and among these winners we selected 1 Feature Narrative, 1 Feature Documentary, 11 short films, 4 student films to be screened at the Cinematheque (during the 3-day Mindie Film Festival).
Festival goers can also enjoy the photography exhibition “I’ve already seen it somewhere”, a collection of photographs of actual film locations coupled with the scenes from New York based films. Artist Davide Fiore will also be present during the festival. The exhibition will be held in the gallery of the Miami Beach Cinematheque for the month of July . In addition, on July 7th there will be a free Cinemarketing workshop where experts from the Visual Storytelling Institute and the Visual Storytelling Academy from Rome – will share actionable tips you can apply to your movie promotion today.

The best little film festival in South beach just got better!
If you’re looking for a fabulous weekend of stars and cinema on glamorous South Beach, then look no further. Mindie 2017 — The 2nd Annual Miami Independent Film Festival will take place the 2nd weekend in July at the Cinematheque, located at the Historic City Hall in the heart of Art Deco South Beach. And here’s the best part: all tickets are free, if booked online and in advance.
Mindie Film Festival Founder and Co-Director, Laura Gasperini says, “The launch of last year’s festival exceeded all expectations. And this year promises to be even better. We are film industry professionals, and we noticed a lack of support for “Indie” (independent) filmmakers. We hoped to fill a niche, and the response has been phenomenal.”
Laura Gasperini and her Co-Director, Valentina Vincenzini founded the Mindie Festival as an online, ongoing, month-to-month independent film competition in 2015. In 2016 they launched the first, annual Mindie Festival event in Wynwood, an artist enclave near downtown Miami.
This year, the festival has moved to the Miami Beach Cinematheque, to accommodate the growing audiences and to showcase the three event including screenings, interactive audience-director panels and producer interviews and after show cocktail parties and receptions, for the visiting filmmakers and international guests.
Founder and Co-Director Valentina Vincenzini explain how the festival is evolving and growing each year. She says, “This year we selected 1 Feature Narrative, 1 Feature Documentary, 11 Short films and 4 Student films to be screened among 1,061 submissions received. The selection process took almost a year and we want to thank our President of Jury Isabella Roberto and our Jury who evaluated all 1,061 submissions on their overall quality, production value, development of the story and cinematography.”
Festival Co-Director, Laura Gasperini says, “The festival runs for three days, starting Friday evening, July 7th, which is Opening Night, and which showcases a breathtakingly beautiful new documentary feature film, My Home, set in Israel. My Home was chosen for its powerful and personal view on how it is to live as a minority in the state of Israel.”
On Saturday and Sunday, July 8th and 9th, the Mindie Film Festival offers full afternoon screenings of selected winners in the shorts categories, from around the world. Each evening screening is capped with a festival centerpiece film, including the Saturday evening fictional feature, Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot (They Call Me Jeeg), which is our Special Screening of the day. The Film won six David Di Donatello (equivalent of Italian Oscars), including Best Editing. Editor Federico Conforti will be present for a Q/A after the screening of the film.

July 7th:
MY Home, Feature Documentary (52 minutes) will be our Opening Film. The Film was chosen for its powerful and personal view on how it is to live as a minority in the state of Israel.
July 8th:
