1. The Shining (1980) – Stanley Kubrick

5. Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994) – Wes Craven
Ten years have past since Wes Craven’s original, A Nightmare on Elm Street, as he brings back the terrifying Freddy Kruger into the world of today. If you’re a fan of A Nightmare on Elm Street, then movie is a must-watch.
6. The Babadook (2014) – Jennifer Kent
Jennifer Kent’s first feature film is an intensely emotional, scare-filled, psychological horror film. It focuses on the overwhelming nature of motherhood, as her surviving son reminds her of husband’s recent death.
7. Hellraiser (1987) – Clive Barker
The combination of pain and pleasure, disturbing images, and psychosexual undertones, Hellraiser is a story about sick obsession of a broken marriage. This successful horror film has returned for several sequels.
8. The Sublet (2017) – John Ainslie
When a couple moves into a new sublet apartment located in an eerie town, they not only face the battle of postpartum depression, but the haunted ghosts that live inside the sublet’s walls.
9. Creep (2014) – Patrick Brice
Brice’s indie horror film captures a videographer who begins to document a stranger from Craiglist for 24 hours. The blend of awkward intensity, kooky conversations, and frantic situations makes the film a hidden gem.
10. Hush (2016) – Mike Flanagan
This Netflix-exclusive thriller centers on a deaf and mute woman, who faces a masked intruder inside of her remote residence in the woods. Can this handicap woman battle to survive, when she can’t even speak?
