Dallas, TX – August 2nd, 2017 – Entrepreneur and mom, Jo-Ann Fletcher, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for her family design project called ‘The Statement Belt.’ The project is a ratchet style automatic belt with a stylish statement buckle created by FEDEY Designs. The belt is already available on Kickstarter and the company’s website. The campaign is all, or nothing and the family only have 25 days to reach their goal of $15,000.
FEDEY Designs and the Statement Belt were created out of two events in the Fletcher household. Jo-Ann said “The initial idea started as I saw the kids getting older, trying to go out on their own, and also experiencing difficulty in securing the type of employment they wanted. Being an entrepreneur and having helped to start other businesses, I was thinking a family business with the kids would be a great idea.” Jo-Ann didn’t reflect on the idea further until another event occurred. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer in the fourth quarter of 2016. This gave Jo-Ann the nudge she needed to launch the business and FEDEY Designs was born. FEDEY stands for Family Every Day Every Year. A gentle reminder that no matter what happens or how far away they go to keep putting family and people first.
The inspiration for The Statement Belt came from her husband’s love of fashion. Clint, her high school sweetheart and her husband of 24 years, likes to dress and is fashion savvy, so the family came up with the idea of doing a ratchet style belt but wanted something with a unique, and stylish buckle. They also wanted something that will make a statement. Just having a belt that would adjust to 38 sizes instead of the traditional 5 as with regular belts was not enough!
The initial statements the family selected are all reflective of what they had seen or what they are feeling. The kids choose #1 DAD to be printed on one of the belt buckles because of their dad and how they saw him standing with their mom. There is another buckle that states UNITY and one has the PEACE sign. There is also a buckle with COWBOY on it because the family is from Texas while SWAG is printed on another because they’ve got it. They have also designed a Blank Canvas buckle, offered first to backers on Kickstarter, for those that wanted something more subtle. As a bonus, all the buckles are interchangeable, so you can easily change up your look.
Jo-Ann’s story remains an inspiration for others going through breast cancer; a reminder to press forward and to continue to dream and look towards the future.” She hopes that others that are fighting cancer will find that special something to hold onto, that will help to brighten their days and put a new purpose on their fight against this disease.
