DORA FOUNDATION IS WELCOMING CONTRIBUTIONS FOR ITS FIGHT AGAINST SICKLE CELL IN SIERRA LEONE

THE NONPROFIT IS DETERMINED TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF DEVASTATED FAMILIES IN THE AREA, WHERE NO OTHER ORGANIZATION IS FOCUSING ON SICKLE CELL VICTIMS

October 20, 2017 – The Dora Foundation is proudly supporting the victims of Sickle Cell and it is raising awareness at the global level for this cause. The foundation’s initiative of sickle cell support and youth development will ultimately help a large number of victims and their families, while changing their lives permanently. Founded by an award winning public speaker and activist Miriam Kay, who has been a sufferer of sickle cell herself, the goal of this organization is to raise awareness and support to empower youth in Sierra Leone.

“We have established this non-profit organization to support people with Sickle Cell along with their family members and to promote Youth Development,” said Miriam Kay, the CEO and Founder of Dora Foundation. “We hope to help these people through educational and financial support as well as training and career development,” she added. According to Miriam, the aim of this nonprofit is to help the youth by providing them vocational trainings in order to empower them professionally.

In addition, there is no other organization currently working in the area that focuses on sickle cell. The foundation will therefore play a major role in transforming the lives of these people along with their caregivers and families. By learning basic skills, these youth will be able to find or create stable jobs and it will ultimately help them to get out of poverty. Moreover, it will also enable them to live a longer, happier and healthier life.

“There are many various ways to get involved and help us raise awareness and funds that will help towards achieving our goals,” said Miriam, while talking about the ways people can participate and make contributions. The nonprofit greatly relies on the donations and support that can be financial or in the form of items such as educational materials, electronic items or clinical items such as medicine. Furthermore, the organization is also accepting volunteers and partners in its mission to improve the lives of these devastated people in Sierra Leone.
