‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ overcomes longtime cultural conflict by bridging American hip-hop and Latino music with the screenplay by Wyclef Jean and soundtrack by Dominican Republic rapper, Fuego, and Miami born, Pitbull. ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ to screen in New York and other major U.S. cities.

Los Angeles, CA – March 14, 2018 – “The sound of the Miami streets, mixed Latin rhythms with hip-hop, and brought it to America and to the world,” writes Vanity Fair about Pitbull.

TriCoast Entertainment and Florida Film House presents A BLAG & MARCO MALL Film, ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ is a current day “Romeo & Juliet” love story, reflecting the old-age challenge of separating two loves, with the urban and gritty twist of Miami’s streets.

Directed by Blademil Grullon (‘Love and Reality’, ‘Fade Away’) and produced by Marco Mall, ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ is the first-ever film to be released as a national theatrical with the collaboration of Haitians and Dominican, set to screen in New York and additional major U.S. cities thereafter. 

The screenplay of ‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ was written by Haitian Actor / Composer / Soundtrack artist, Wyclef Jean. Noted as an extremely talented artist, Jean has received several Grammy Awards, and has reached eight nominations, including those received at the Golden Globes Awards. Jean is world-known for soundtracks on ‘Hotel Rwanda’ (2004), ‘The Manchurian Candidate’ (2004), and James Bond film, ‘Quantum of Solace’ (2008).

The film’s soundtrack features Miami-born artists, including American rapper, singer, actor and record producer, Armando “Pitbull” Perez, (a.k.a. “Mr. 305”or “Mr. Worldwide” in reference to world tours and Miami area code), who has remained loyal and proud of his roots, while conquering the American Dream.

Pitbull grew up as a first-generation Cuban American in the Miami world of ‘Scarface’ and ‘Miami Vice’ (drug-filled neighborhoods), which heavily influenced his music, lyrics, and dreams as he “took the sound of the Miami streets, mixed Latin rhythms with hip-hop, and brought it to America and to the world” wrote Vanity Fair’s Lisa Robinson, referring to Pitbull as “an invaluable contributions to America’s most popular music”.

The Miami street rapper is also an ambassador; known for his dedication to connect the hip-hop and the Latin worlds together and to encourages the cultural crossover. Pitbull has set up a charter school in Miami for grades 6 to 12, called SLAM!, which engages children with little interest in education. SLAM!, standing for Sports, Leadership, Arts, and Management.

Pitbull described SLAM!, stating, “‘teaching the kids you can be a physical therapist, an agent, a lawyer, a broadcaster. There’s a whole business around sports. With my partner [philanthropic businessman] Fernando Zulueta, we just broke ground for another SLAM!, in Las Vegas, and we’ve been approved for more in West Palm Beach, Broward County, Osceola, and Tampa.’ In addition to the charter schools, Pitbull is involved with the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami and the Imaginate Foundation—which provides resources to low-income families in Miami,” reported Robinson.

Pitbull has created hundreds of songs, sold more than 70 million singles (‘Timber’, ‘Time of Our Lives’ featuring Ne-Yo, ‘The Anthem’ featuring Lil Jon) and has performed in over 50 countries for millions of pictures, to name a few of his great accomplishments.

‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ stars Dominican Republican rapper, Miguel A. Duran, Jr., a.k.a. “Fuego” as the lead of Sandy, who is signed to Pitbull’s record label, Mr. 305 Inc. Fuego has continued to bridge between American hip hop and Latino music.

Though not a Miami native, Fuego made a permanent move to South Florida, thereafter settling in downtown Miami. Dubbing Fuego as “an international sensation”, Tony Centeno from Miami News Times continued, “His Spanish rhymes and catchy records have gained popularity in Latin America and in Europe,” for his headline: Fuego Is Set to Raise the Bar for Latin Hip-Hop.

“Both internationally known artists [Pitbull and Fuego] jumped on the official remix to ‘Mi Alma Se Muere’, which ignited dance floors across the world,” wrote Cento.

‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ captures Miami’s urban and art culture exquisitely with cast members, Miguel “Fuego” Duran (Soundtrack of ‘Puerto Ricans in Paris’, written/ performed ‘Mami Mami’), Lexi Delarosa (‘Love and Reality’, ‘Zoe911’, ‘Mattie: The Discovery’), Paul Antoine (‘Love and Reality’), and Mitch Lemos (director of ‘A Haunting Expense’, ‘Fearless Heart’, ‘Fade Away’). Producer Marco Mall is the founder of the Urban Film Festival in Miami and runner of full-service production company based in the Wynwood section of Miami, Florida Film House and is credited for ‘Zoe911’, ‘Kevin Gates Short Film’, ‘Swingers Anonymous’.

‘A MIAMI LOVE STORY’ will be available on VOD platforms beginning April 16th, 2018 and will follow an exclusive U.S. theatrical, beginning in New York.
