The Cybersecurity Excellence Awards has unveiled the winners for 2023, which recognized and celebrated individuals who have made monumental contributions to the cybersecurity industry. “We extend our warmest congratulations to the winners for their exceptional accomplishments as Gold award recipients in multiple categories at the 2023 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards,” stated CEO Holger Schulze. “Their well-deserved recognition reflects their outstanding achievements and significant contributions to the field of cybersecurity.” The winners demonstrated outstanding achievement, creativity, and excellence in combating the current generation of cybersecurity threats according to the awards committee.
Since its inception in 2016, the Cyber Excellence Awards has become synonymous with excellence and innovation in the international cybersecurity industry. This year, several categories were honored. Some of them were:
- The Best Cybersecurity Company Award which recognizes organizations that have significantly contributed to the enhancement of the information security industry by demonstrating a leadership role and making remarkable contributions to a relevant improvement initiative, program, or project.
- The Most Innovative Cybersecurity Company Award which recognizes organizations that have demonstrated innovative work for the enhancement of the information security industry by creating tools, software, and procedures that are novel for the industry.
- The Cybersecurity Strategist of the Year Award which recognized an individual who demonstrated excellence in cyberstrategy-related work through excellent accomplishments and strategic contributions in the information security industry in their careers.
- The Cybersecurity Professional of the Year Award which recognized an individual who demonstrated outstanding contributions toward the cybersecurity profession through consistent, impactful work in the information security industry.
- The Chief Executive Office of the Year Award which recognized an individual executive who significantly impacted the cybersecurity community by contributing through dedicated and exceptional efforts.
Some of the notable winners included: Dr. Ilia Kolochenko, based in Europe, who won the 2023 Gold Award for Chief Executive Officer of the Year; Ameya Khankar, based in North America, who won the 2023 Gold Award for Cybersecurity Strategist of the Year and Cybersecurity Professional of the Year amongst others; and Lee Kappon based in the Middle East who won the 2023 Gold Award for Cybersecurity Woman of the Year.
The selection process of the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards was rigorous and encompassed several stages, which included:
- Submission of nominations by individuals, organizations, and products, either through self-nomination or recognition from expert industry peers
- Meticulous evaluation by a distinguished panel of judges comprising of cybersecurity experts, industry thought leaders, and seasoned professionals who evaluated for the overall strength of the nominations, demonstrated leadership & excellence in cybersecurity, and history of remarkable innovative work results in the industry.
- In the event of a tie, the popular vote was taken into consideration; however, excellence and merit remained paramount throughout the selection process.
This year’s Cybersecurity Excellence Awards witnessed a record-breaking number of entries, with an astonishing 800 cybersecurity professionals and experts from the United States and across the globe participating in this highly prestigious award.
