DALLAS, TX – On December 8, 2018, Sergeant Demetrick Pennie, president of the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation, hosts the 4th Annual Holiday Celebration Dinner honoring police officer widows and survivors. Special guests for this event will include NFL Hall of Famer Tim Brown (LA Raiders), NBA star Spud Webb and Retired U.S. Army Captain Chad Fleming. This year’s celebration will be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.
Sgt. Pennie states the holiday Celebration Dinner is organized each year in continuous support of families of fallen officers in the Dallas/Fort Worth region. Sgt. Pennie states “This celebration is designed to provide the families with an opportunity to reunite, re-engage and display our continuous support. I recognize the constant burden that these families must bare and this annual celebration is the least that we can do. We’re committed to letting these families know they will never be forgotten.”
Retired U.S. Army Captain Chad Fleming is this year’s keynote speaker. Sgt. Pennie stated Fleming was chosen because of his “Never Quit” message. Fleming is a highly decorated war hero who deployed 5 times after becoming an amputee. Captain Fleming has been deployed overseas six times with the U.S. Army’s elite 75th Ranger Regiment in Support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
This year’s event include an ice sculpture tour, elegant dinner, motivational speaker, gifts and an opportunity to meet and take photos with renowned community leaders. This event also serves as a yearly toy drive to collect and donate new toys to the Dallas Children’s Hospital Cancer Center.
