January 5, 2017 – Guide for the Arts has become something of an essential resource, bringing together the annual schedules of leading arts organizations in America, notably museums, theatre, music and dance.
The ambassador to the arts is a particularly prestigious honor bestowed to a person who has had an impact on the Arts world.
Awarded the National Medal of Arts at a White House ceremony in 2013, Renée Fleming is often referred to as “the people’s diva”, gracing the world’s greatest opera stages and concert halls, and performing for a number of global dignitaries including HM Queen Elizabeth II.
In addition to hosting a number of television and radio broadcasts, Renée Fleming became the first classical artist to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in 2014, highlighting her appeal to a wide audience.
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce global opera superstar, Renée Fleming, as our 2017 Ambassador to the Arts,” said Kevin Wood, group publisher of Guide for the Arts.
“The role of ambassador is an extremely important one, not only to recognize and celebrate the achievements of individuals and organizations, but also to increase the appeal and reach of the arts to a wider audience,” he added.
The annual publication produces regional editions in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Palm Beach/Miami, Houston, Dallas and Washington D.C. markets. Distributed to major donors and corporate sponsors, the Guide for the Arts is now in its 16th year.
