Jessica B Thomas is delighted to announce the release of her first published poetry collection titled Weights and Stumbling Blocks. The debut body of work is made up of various poems, written during the author’s early 20s through her current middle-age years, and is mainly based on relationships as well as her walk with Jesus.
Jessica B Thomas began writing ever since she was a little girl. The author recalls writing a short horror story, reading to her baby brother, and noticing the effect it had on him. Although she had to put off writing for a while, Jessica says she took up the pen again while serving in the US Airforce as an outlet for the mentally and emotionally tasking rigors of military service. After her discharge from the Airforce, the budding author attended Hampton University where she earned a Baccalaureate of Arts degree in Fine and Performing Arts.
From there Jessica went on to earn a Masters of Arts Degree in Script and ScreenPlay Writing at Regent University. And later, spent some time teaching aspiring students through actor’s workshops at Langley AFB. In addition to her degrees, Jessica B Thomas is a veteran playwright and has lots of experience sitting on the director’s chair for several urban plays of her own, and assisting in directing productions through James Person’s Full Access Films and Tina Carter’s Sister to Sister Entertainment.
Jessica says she hopes the poems contained in Weights and Stumbling Blocks will cause people to reflect on their current personal spiritual life, as well as encourage anyone going through a difficult time to rely on the love and guidance of Jesus Christ.
“Weights and Stumbling Blocks is a compilation of poetry that I wrote during the good, hurtful, and ugly times in my life. I hope that you will purchase a copy of the book and that, through the words, GOD will strengthen and encourage you.”
Jessica’s new book is currently available in Kindle and in Paperback on Amazon and Target. The author also runs a website www.jessaword.com through which she talks about her art and highlights the various sources of inspiration that keep her going.
