A Toronto family health clinic has issued a reminder to local residents that its physiotherapy clinic is back to its normal operating hours.
Hours at Bay College Physiotherapy, part of Bay College Medical & Lockwood, and across the whole of the clinic, were limited due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but the clinic’s physios are now back up and running, but with special health and safety measures in place to safeguard against the virus.
The physiotherapy practice offers a wide range of services for people needing rehabilitation services after an accident, to help with movement of joints and muscles due to ageing, or for people who need support due to diseases or serious health conditions.
A spokesman for Bay College Physiotherapy said: “Physiotherapy is a key service in our clinic and can make a huge difference to many people’s lives. We are really pleased that we are now back to normal hours and we can get back to helping our patients with their treatment plans.
“We want to reassure all of the our patients that we are taking every precaution to protect them and our staff against the COVID-19 virus, so they have nothing to be worried about. We would be happy to explain this to them if they want to phone us for reassurance or guidance ahead of their appointments.
“Our physiotherapy appointments take place in a state-of-the-art facility using the latest technology and techniques to help our patients. We use exercise, stretching, water therapy and massage to help with musculoskeletal and orthopaedic treatment, cardio and respiratory treatment and nervous system disorders.
“Musculoskeletal treatment is what most people associate physiotherapy with – helping to restore a range of movement for people who have suffered broken bones, sprains, strains and arthritis.
“Many people don’t necessarily connect conditions like asthma or heart conditions with physio, but we can help to improve lung and heart function through certain therapies.
“Physiotherapy is also used to help people who have suffered loss of muscular control due to a stroke, migraines and conditions like Multiple Sclerosis. It can also help people who have suffered brain injuries to recover movement.
“Our physios offer all of this support and this is why it has been so important to get our physios back to a normal routine and helping people get their day to day lives back on track with their treatment regimes,” he added.
Bay College Medical & Lockwood has been looking after residents in the Toronto area for more than 70 years. The clinic offers a ‘one stop shop’ for health care services, including optometrists, dentists, Xray, ultrasound, cardiology, pharmacy and a general family practice.
