When people quit drinking, one major challenge is finding others who also do not drink. Unfortunately, because of the outbreak of COVID-19 and the global lockdown which was enacted to curb the spread of the virus, it became impossible for people to create and access real human connections, groups, and clubs that could help them live an alcohol-free lifestyle.
The COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown spurred the creation of the Oasis mobile app which is a platform that enables people who do not drink to connect with one another. Oasis gives sober individuals a safe community to connect with other like-minded people. On the app, users can connect and relate with an already established understanding that they are connecting with people like them who are in sobriety, recovery, or simply pursuing a healthy and spiritual lifestyle.
“The road to a sober lifestyle is a long and winding one, and it’s better if we don’t trudge it alone,” explained Kate G., CEO and Founder of Oasis Sober Connection. “At Oasis, we wanted to give users the opportunity to connect and build authentic friendships with like-minded individuals. The goal is to help users find their community and bond through shared experiences in a digital age.”
The Oasis mobile app features two modes, Friendship and Dating. Users can swipe left or right to find other users in the Oasis community near them. They will see Daily Affirmations and featured Sober Stories of other users. Every week, there is a Mocktail of the Week challenge where all users can take part and share their experiences.
One feature that sets Oasis apart from other dating and friendship apps is that it puts a focus on the community aspect of sobriety. Research has shown that when people are part of a supportive community, they are more likely to stay on track with their sobriety goals. In this regard, the Oasis app is so powerful because it provides a community-focused platform.
At the moment, the Oasis app is available for iOS users and welcomes all who choose are wishing to connect with others who don’t drink alcohol. Both sober users and all who fall under the “non-partier” umbrella are welcome. However, users will be banned if they threaten the recovery of others or try to discourage those in recovery.

About Oasis Sober Connections
Oasis Sober Connections is the brainchild of Kate G where she seeks to help people get the support and encouragement they need on their journey to sobriety. The company began operations in 2020 when the founder noticed that the COVID-19 lockdown prevented access to support groups and clubs for people who want to become sober. Through Oasis Sober Connections and the Oasis app, Kate hopes to provide people with actual connections and make sure no one is ever alone in their journey.
