Dr. Besser is a highly trained and qualified neurologist with a vast expertise in all facets of his work, especially neuromuscular diseases and ALS. Dr. Besser has been in practice for over 20 years and is currently a partner at South Shore Neurologic Associates, PC.Furthermore, Dr. Besser holds hospital privileges at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, New York, and Brookhaven Medical Center in Patchogue, New York.
Dr. Besser received his medical training at The Autonomous University of Guadalajara School of Medicine, and New York Medical College. He interned at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and served his neurology residency at the State University of New York – Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Besser then completed his fellowship in neuromuscular neurology and electromyography at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Dr. Besser holds board certification in neurology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Additionally, he is certified in acupuncture by the New York State Department of Education. Dr. Besser has also authored articles appearing in professional literature on peripheral neuropathy. He remains at the forefront of the field of neurology by maintaining a professional membership with the American Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Besser credits his success to his professors who inspired his passion for learning, his strong desire to help patients, and continued education. In his spare time, Dr. Besser enjoys reading classic books, and spending time with family and friends.
