Body404 Adds to its Collection of Indie Designers after Raising $6 Million in Pre-A Series Funding

Innovative global multi-brand shopping platform, Body404, continues to update its Chinese indie brands collection across different categories following a successful funding round led by BAI Capital

Chenfan Zhang and the rest of the team at Body404 are undoubtedly making giant strides in helping the budding generation of cosmopolitan designers across China to reach a global audience as the platform updates its collection of brands and products. Body404 and the cause it promotes are catching the attention of different stakeholders, as the company recently won some investor support, with its valuation jumping to $50 million after closing a Series pre-A round totaling $6 million in March 2022 and follow-on investment from previous shareholders – KUANZHAI Venture Capital and One Capital.

Cross-border e-commerce is in the growth bonus period, and we strongly believe in China’s advantage and potential of the supply chain. BODY404 team has its advantage in front-end operation, technology development, and supply chain management. We appreciate the team’s innovation and experimentation in its business model, and look forward to seeing how BODY404 can achieve the upgraded global supply chain.” – BAI Capital.

Users are discovering Body404 on Facebook, Google and, in particular, TikTok. Click per mille (CPM), a way to measure return on online advertising spent, ranges from $3-$5 on the short video app, while CPM on Facebook in comparison stands at $10-$15.” – Chenfan Zhang, CEO and co-founder of Body404. “We don’t want the border between China and the world to close down. We want to show the world what Chinese designers look like.”

China remains one of the biggest fashion markets in the world, with a revenue of over $303 billion in 2021, according to a report by Statista. The report also projected the market size to hit $376.07 billion in 2027, as demand increases from different parts of the world. However, Chinese companies and the market as a whole continue to battle the perception of being about cheap runway knockoffs. Consequently, Body404 aims to change this narrative and has done extremely well in this aspect since its launch in 2021.

Body404 has a collection of indie designers offering products that are reminiscent of retro-90s looks of acid-house colors and baggy denim. Chenfan Zhang is also looking to leverage his entrepreneurial prowess and network to connect boutique designer brands from other countries to China’s well-oiled supply chains and ultimately satisfy the growing and diverse needs of customers, majorly in the US and Europe. Prior to founding Body404, he ran a flash sales app and received millions of dollars of investment from IDG Capital. In 2017, he co-founded the B&B chain brand – CITYHOME, acquired by Airbnb.

The categories of products offered by Body404 include jewelry, clothing, accessories, and home and living, all from brands that guarantee quality and relative affordability.
