Boss Up: How Top-Level Service Propelled Mark Kattula To The Highest Seller At His Brokerage

Mark Kattula has never met a challenge he didn’t like. That mantra has been the driving force behind his ascension from his humble beginnings working at the family liquor store, to becoming the top agent at his brokerage, DOBI Real Estate. Kattula’s new stomping grounds span cities within Oakland and Macomb counties, where he helps local residents find their dream homes.

Kattula attributes his success in real estate to what he considers to be the most important asset in business and in life: the human connection.

“I don’t care if you’re selling property, private jets, or peanut butter, we are in the people business. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you’ll find yourself truly helping people,” says Kattula.

He suggests that to truly become successful in business and in life, it’s important to understand people, what motivates and drives them, and how to meet their needs to solve their problems in the most personal way.

“Understanding clients’ goals, setting the right expectations, educating the client, constant engagement and immediate responses, streamlined process and our white glove closing experience, this is how we provide top-notch client service to ensure customer satisfaction.”

Kattula’s ascension hasn’t been without its risks. “I switched brokerages 4 years ago because I knew surrounding myself with agents better than me would push me, and it did. I wasn’t even in the top 50%,” recalled Kattula. It was this adversity that cultivated the hustle mentality that allowed Kattula to achieve his professional success.

Now at the pinnacle of his career, Kattula reflects back on his humble beginning. “Being thrown into work at a young age, it’s crazy because probably everything I complained about back then is everything I’m grateful for today.” He knows he wouldn’t be in the position he’s in today if it weren’t for the lessons he learned in his youth working in his family’s business.

“A common theme I’ve noticed in my career, whether I was in the liquor store, selling cell phone plans, or now dream homes, is that when you focus on the person, the results follow, and everybody in the deal wins.“
