Famed Entrepreneur Seth Siegel Provides Solutions to Global Droughts on Holistic Survival Podcast

Vringo founder and New York Times Bestselling Author Shares Insights into Israel’s Water System and how it can Save the World’s Most Important Resource

Scottsdale, AZ – Holistic Survival podcast host Jason Hartman spoke with Seth M. Siegel, New York Times bestselling author of LET THERE BE WATER: Israel’s Solution for a Water-Starved World. Siegel’s activist essays on water conservation and other political issues have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times.

In the interview, Siegel discusses why the world is about to descend into a water crisis. He then goes on to explain how other countries can apply Israel’s successes in conserving water to their own drought situations.

“With proper planning, incentives and technology, it’s amazing how a geopolitically unsafe nation like Israel is able to save and reuse water,” Siegel said. “Elected U.S. officials, media and civic leaders aren’t discussing this. We aren’t guaranteed a safe water future.”

Siegel cited drip irrigation equipment as relatively expensive compared to water, which is valued freely in the United States. The cost of equipment to conserve water is why the U.S. hasn’t attempted to adopt new water-saving technologies and why consumers carry a wasteful attitude in their water use.

“Israel is 60% desert and has a fast-growing population, yet it’s able to export water to other countries because it manufactures water from sewage and uses drip irrigation techniques,” Siegel said. “Within 15 years, I expect the U.S. to pick up these systems.”

Siegel was the co-founder of Beanstalk, which advised Coca Kola (NYSE: KO) and Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG). Beanstalk was sold to Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), which then sold it to Omnicom (NYSE: OMC).

Siegel also founded global investment bank Sixpoint Partners and intellectual property firm Vringo (NASDAQ: VRNG). He sits on the Council of Foreign Relations and has served as a licensing agent to Paris Hilton and Hanna-Barbera Productions, handling The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear and Scooby-Doo.
