Elk Grove, CA – December 18, 2020 – Students at Franklin High School in the Elk Grove Unified School District showed off their impressive musical talents and rallied to create a student-produced video of beautiful music. The Franklin Wind Ensemble worked to perfect their parts through virtual classes and at-home practice to master the piece of music featured in the video. The students then recorded all of their parts and produced an impressive end result, a virtual concert experience for friends, family, and teachers to enjoy.

The song performed in the video is A Slavic Farewell by Vasilij Ivanovich Agapkin and arranged by John R. Bourgeois. Matthew Mackay, Visual and Performing Arts and music teacher at Franklin High School, assisted students in perfecting their excellent performance. The wind ensemble then not only learned their parts but put them on display in a big way for the community to see and listen to. Elk Grove Unified School district is proud of the initiative and creativity of its students who are finding ways to connect among virtual schooling.

Chantelle Albiani, Principal of Franklin High School, commented on the video saying, “I am amazed every day by how much our staff and students have accomplished during this pandemic.”

Elk Grove Unified School District students continue to shine no matter where they are learning. To learn more about the district and the amazing students and opportunities in it, visit the EGUSD website!
