FreeCast Home Ready to Serve Over 10 Million as ATSC 3.0 Rolls out in New York Metro Area

FreeCast Home Ready to Serve Over 10 Million as ATSC 3.0 Rolls out in New York Metro Area
New Yorkers gain access to a potent cable TV disruptor via FreeCast Home and the next-gen broadcast standard.

As ATSC 3.0 rolls out to the nation’s largest television market, FreeCast is at the 2023 NAB Show in New York City, showing off an opportunity for over 10 million customers to benefit from the new broadcast technology. The company’s recently-launched FreeCast Home box is a whole-home television solution, pairing local over-the-air broadcast channels with over 700 free streaming channels, and over 500,000 on-demand TV episodes and movies. This ultimate television offering, as large as many cable packages, can be had for a one-time cost of $200, less than a single monthly TV bill for many.

ATSC 3.0 is the latest broadcast standard, and a huge step forward for over-the-air television, supporting 4K resolution and high dynamic range (HDR) video, improved audio quality, more robust reception, and hybrid delivery of content across broadcast and broadband networks. In the New York City DMA, which also includes parts of Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New York State, there are over 50 broadcast channels, including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, The CW, PBS, ION, Univision, Telemundo, and more. With an HDTV antenna and a compatible device like FreeCast Home, consumers can enjoy these advanced features, and watch their local news, sports, and weather.

FreeCast Home was designed to take full advantage of the new ATSC 3.0 technology, and is fully backwards compatible with older ATSC 1.0 signals as well. When attached to a Wi-Fi router, the device is able to stream these broadcast channels to any device in the home and make them available within the FreeCast app, along with DVR capability.

Unlike other streaming devices on the market, FreeCast Home is a single piece of hardware able to serve multiple devices within the home, including smartphones and tablets, and is integrated with the FreeCast aggregated streaming service on each. This includes the company’s SmartGuide, which brings together free and paid video from across the web, including live and on-demand content from free ad-supported, subscription, and pay-per-view providers. Premium subscribers gain access to MediaPay, a built-in manager for subscriptions and payments, which features fraud protection, the ability to easily pause or cancel subscriptions, and monthly itemized statements with all their media spending.
