Sneak Peek: Preparations for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Australia will be hosting the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The participating teams are now battling it out in the qualifiers as this prestigious world cricket tournament will be held ten months from now, around October to November of 2022.

Men’s T20 is generally held every two years and Australia was supposed to host the said event last year. But it was postponed due to the surge of COVID-19 cases there. Then, the organizers rescheduled the tournament in 2021 where India was assigned as the host. However, more outside-the-court drama happened as the cricket tournament also got scrubbed for the same reason as Australia’s.

And now that the situation is becoming better, there’s no stopping the ICC to fully commit to the 2022 World Cup.

16 national teams will be competing for the Men’s T20, with Australia returning as the longest T20 champions. There will be more than 45 matches to be played across the seven stadiums in Australia.

The Adelaide Oval and the Sydney Cricket Ground will be witnesses for the Men’s T20 semi-final matches. While the championships will be held at the momentous Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Currently, there are 12 national teams that have already been qualified for the Men’s T20 World Cup. As for the four remaining spots, the top two teams from each of the two Global Qualifiers would earn and secure those places.

And since the 16 spots are not yet final, the groupings for the World Cup aren’t decided yet. The teams and fans will have to wait until January 2022 for the tournament’s full list.

As for the local broadcasting, it is still not yet discussed.

For sure, several international cricket fans will patiently search for the Men’s T20 World Cup and its qualifying matches’ digital broadcasts as not everyone could fly to Australia and watch the tournament live and in person.

Well, look no further because Freeliv got you covered.
