SOMAVAC Medical Solutions Continues Hire and Promotion Trend to Support SOMAVAC® 100 Sustained Vacuum System

Memphis, TN – January 23, 2020 – SOMAVAC® Medical Solutions, Inc., a med tech company creating solutions to improve post-op care, begins 2020 by announcing a realignment of its team in support of its flagship device the SOMAVAC® 100 Sustained Vacuum System.

Phil Ryan, who joined SOMAVAC in 2019, has been promoted from VP of Operations to Chief Operating Officer. With more than 20 years of experience in medical devices, Ryan’s leadership in operations and supply chain enabled SOMAVAC to move production in-house. Ryan continues to strengthen SOMAVAC’s operational foundation and optimize the supply chain to support sales growth and organizational demands in the future.

SOMAVAC is also excited to welcome John Flynn as Vice President of Sales. John will be responsible for sales leadership, and will contribute to establishing relationships with customers and distributors, as well as general management responsibilities.

Flynn joins SOMAVAC from Olympus ENT, a Memphis-based manufacturer of electromechanical medical devices. As a Regional VP of Sales, he rebuilt an underperforming region of eight direct sales reps across seven states. Flynn also has experience with Olympus in global marketing and strategy, as well as product development.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome John to our team and enthusiastic about Phil’s increasing responsibilities with SOMAVAC as our COO. We continue to develop a team of passionate, driven professionals who share a dedication to the development and commercialization of medical devices that will improve the post-op recovery experience.”

The SOMAVAC® Sustained Vacuum System is a low-profile, user friendly, wearable medical device that applies sustained vacuum to a surgical site following large-flap forming surgeries to remove fluid effectively and may reduce the risk of seroma. It is designed to replace the legacy technology of using manual suction bulbs attached to surgical drains, which has seen little innovation or advancements since the bulbs’ conception in 1970’s.

The SOMAVAC® 100 is indicated for use in a range of surgeries which lead to large surgical flaps requiring drains, such as abdominal surgery, mastectomy, cosmetic surgery, hernia surgery, orthopedic procedures, etc.
